Arto Klami was appointed as Academy Research Fellow for a period of five years, starting in September 1st 2013. He will be working on his project "Traces of Information: Intelligence from fragmented data", developing new probabilistic machine learning techniques for understanding the digital traces of human activity.
The Academy Research Fellow is a post funded by Academy of Finland, intended for independent scientific work after postdoctoral research stage. The fellowships are awarded through a highly competitive call; in 2013 only twenty positions were given for Natural sciences and Engineering.
