Academy of Finland has granted funding to Matti Järvisalo for the project Decision Procedures for the Polynomial Hierarchy, Boolean Optimization, and Model Counting for the five-year period 9/2014-8/2019 under the Academy Research Fellow funding scheme.

As stated by Academy of Finland: "The aim of the funding is to provide an opportunity for the most talented and advanced researchers to develop their skills of academic leadership and to establish themselves as independent researchers". In 2014, only 9% of the applications within the Academy’s Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering were granted funding.

Currently Matti leads the Constraint Reasoning and Optimization Group at Department of Computer Science, University of Helsinki, and (under the CoSCo group) at HIIT.
