Several Master’s thesis positions in Computational Health

Foundations of Computational Health Research programme of Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT is looking for several MSc thesis workers to work on cutting-edge technologies for Computational Health. The positions allow combining state-of-the-art computational methods with large-real world data arising in healthcare and personalized medicine, analysed in collaboration with experts from Aalto University, University of Helsinki, Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) as well as Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM).

MSc topics are available in the following themes:

  1. Analysis of high-throughput omics datasets (Tero Aittokallio)
  2. Complex networks modelling and mining (Aris Gionis, Jari Saramäki)
  3. Computational metabolomics  (Juho Rousu)
  4. Pan-genome algorithmics (Veli Mäkinen, Keijo Heljanko)
  5. Machine learning on structured big data (Juho Rousu, Aris Gionis, Tero Aittokallio)
  6. Modelling drug resistance (Ville Mustonen, Tero Aittokallio)
  7. Network pharmacology modelling (Tero Aittokallio, Juho Rousu)

Qualifications

We expect the applicants to be have a strong background in computer science, bioinformatics, biomathematics, biostatistics, statistical physics, or a related field, with an excellent study success.

Compensation

The salary range is from c. 1,880.00 EUR to 2,200.00 EUR per month depending on the hiring institution practices.
