23 Apr 2008 - D.Sc. Patrik Hoyer and Ph.D. Mikko Koivisto have been awarded Academy Research Fellow posts by the Academy of Finland. At the moment Patrik Hoyer and Mikko Koivisto work as postdoctoral researchers in HIIT.
As an Academy Research Fellow Patrik Hoyer develops methods for inferring cause-effect relationships from non-experimental data, and applies the methods on real data-analysis problems in a variety of scientific fields, in collaboration with domain experts.
Mikko Koivisto develops flexible statistical models, advances the theoretical understanding of related computational problems, and applies the methods in concrete data analysis tasks, focusing on applications in bioinformatics and medical genetics.
Both Academy Research Fellowships last 5 years starting on 1 August 2008.
