Aalto data science hackathon

The Aalto data science hackathon took place in the Open Innovation House in Otaniemi, in the weekend of April 24-26. A wealth of interesting datasets was provided by IT companies and organizations, such as, Elisa, Microsoft, Wellmo, CIVIS, HSL, in addition to social-media data and open data that were also used. The hackathon was centered around three themes: telecommunications, fitness, and smart cities. More than 40 students participated and hacked intensively over the weekend. The teams came up with many interesting ideas on how to explore the provided data, they found suprising facts and insights, and they developed impressive demos.
