Andrei Gurtov was appointed as IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer for 2016-17 and Vice-chair of IEEE Finland Section.

IEEE Distinguished Lecturers are engineering professionals who help lead their fields in new technical developments that shape the global community. These experts: Specialize in the field of interest of their Society/Council Travel to various technical and regional groups, such as Society and Technical Council Chapters, to lecture at events.

The IEEE Finland Section is a dynamic branch with over 1000 members within eight technical chapters. The main goal of IEEE Finland is to involve Finnish members into worldwide technical activities and help them in their professional career. The IEEE Finland is governed by officers appointed by IEEE Finland Section General Assembly for two years period.
