Kvasir project will be demonstrated in WWW'15 conference in Florence, Italy, May 2015. Kvasir aims at integrating intelligent and proactive content provision and into web browsing. The core research team consists of Dr. Liang Wang, Dr. Sotiris Tasoulis, Prof. Teemu Roos, and Prof. Jussi Kangasharju.

The Internet is overloading its users with excessive information flows, so that the effective content-based filtering becomes crucial in improving user experience and work efficiency. Kvasir is a semantic recommendation system, built atop latent semantic analysis and other state-of-art technologies to seamlessly integrate an automated and proactive content provision service into web browsing. Besides exploring various novel ways to improve users' experience on the Web, the research group also focuses on taking advantage of the power of Apache Spark to scale up Kvasir to a practical Internet service. About the future development, the research group is planning to publish a formal release on the application market by the end of this year. The follow-up research will focus on both improving system performance and analyzing usage pattern.
