Description:
Abstract:

Amazon¹s core business is retail and e-commerce. With Amazon Web Services,
the company is now also a key player in cloud computing and storage, and it
recently launched several devices such as the Kindle Fire tablet and the
Fire Phone. The massive data sets collected throughout the company are
creating a vast number of opportunities for Machine Learning and Data
Science. Amazon applications traditionally included recommender systems
and search. Now they also range from problems in Computer Vision and
Natural Language Processing, to problems in Forecasting and Robotics. In
this talk, I will provide an overview of some of the problems we are
tackling with Machine Learning at Amazon and discuss some of the
challenges we are facing with very large data sets and models.
