ABSTRACT
The usability of mobile services is degraded while moving, since users cannot pay enough attention to the services in dynamic and complicated mobile environments. Mobile and wearable services should be appropriately designed to handle human factor issues, otherwise fine user experience cannot be offered. In this talk, we point out the issues in mobile service design, and propose a software framework to overcome the challenges. Our approach adds a simplified interaction style to mobile services, in order to allow a user to continually use the service without frequent interruptions. Moreover, multi-modal interaction is supported so that messages from the service are delivered through the most appropriate channel. Based on the findings obtained in the development of a pedestrian navigation service, future directions are discussed for further improvement.
