Description: 

There will be short break in all services that use OpenSSL library due to restart of each service. A break in each service shouldn't last more than a few seconds.

Description: 

Due to configuration mistake authentication of VPN tunnels failed.

Unfinished configuration had been in place a while, but HIIT-VPN service wasn't restarted until due to OpenSSL library vulnerability (see the break report). After restart the configuration mistake was taken into production and thus all authentication attempts failed.

Description: 

Due to TCP wrapper configuration error clients in HIIT's production network were not allowed to connect to LDAP servers find.it.hiit.fi and lose.it.hiit.fi.

Breaks in domain name service at 2014-04-14 16:00 - 2014-03-17 11:30

Description: 

Due to zone delegation configuration error some of HIIT's zones, more specifically

  • fe.hiit.fi
  • it.hiit.fi
  • pc.hiit.fi

were not propagated to ns-secondary.funet.fi. Because HIIT has three (3) name servers (name.it.hiit.fi, label.it.hiit.fi and ns-secondary.funet.fi) one third (1/3) of queries to previously mentioned zones failed due to ns-secondary.funet.fi not knowing those previously mentioned zones.

The problem is being investigated.

Update at 2014-03-17 11:31: The configuration error in HIIT DNS external zone view delegation settings was found and fixed and all zones are OK now.

Break in IT services' ticketing system mail delivery at 2014-03-02 02:02 - 2014-03-06 14:57

Due to University of Helsinki Department of Computer Science's mail server renovation HIIT IT services' ticketing system isn't able to send mails. Hopefully the fix will be applied soon.
