  • HIIT organises Pervasive 2010

    15 Oct 2008 - Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT and the Department of Computer Science of University of Helsinki will organise Pervasive 2010, the Eight International Conference on Pervasive Computing. The conference will take place in Helsinki, Finland during four days in Mid-May 2010.

  • HIIT launched a 3D version of multi-touch display CityWall

    10 Oct 2008 - Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT has launched a new, 3D version of CityWall. CityWall is a large multi-touch display that supports large numbers of people interacting by touch on the display simultaneously. CityWall's widget framework built on top of the computer vision component tracks gestures and maps them to 2D/3D graphics engine interaction tasks.

  • Teemu Koponen: a new network architecture

    2 Oct 2008 - HIIT researcher Teemu Koponen proposes a new network architecture for the Internet in his dissertation. The new clean-slate network architecture matches with the current data-oriented usage of the Internet. Koponen presents a name resolution system based on name-based routing, proposes modest addressing-related changes to IP and takes steps towards a new application programming interface to decouple the applications from the network stack.

  • Halli Deadlines

    1 Oct 08 - At HIIT TKK, The working hours have to be recorded to HALLI at the latest by the second day of the following month. The supervisors have to accept the reports by the fifth day of the month. The deadlines are absolute.

    Please note: the hours can be recorded in HALLI also in advance.

  • New articles of HIIT approved

    19 Sep 08 - The new articles of HIIT have now been officially approved by Helsinki University of Technolgy TKK and the University of Helsinki. New articles become effective on 1 January 2009.

  • Study Subjects wanted

    10 Sep 08 - I'm looking for potential study subjects from the HIIT employees. Two types of individuals are wanted.

    First, I'm looking for individuals that
    a) have not(!) owned or otherwise used for long term a cell phone with which one can surf in the Internet,
    b) have at least mediocre knowledge and skills in computers, and
    c) are aged from 25 to 40 years.

  • OtaSizzle launched for testing mobile social media services

    8 Sep 2008 - OtaSizzle test environment has been launched. It will develop an open experimentation environment for testing mobile social media services. The goal is to make OtaSizzle a "living lab" for thousands of users in Otaniemi, with extensions in greater Helsinki. The project creates prototype mobile social media service platforms and studies them with extensive field tests, coupled with quantitative measurements and qualitative analysis. The outcome will be a "packaged" experimentation environment, "SizzleLab" concept.
