Researchers from the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT participated to Slush.

In 2015, Slush brought together 15.000 attendees, including 1.700 startups, 800 venture capital investors and 630 journalists from exactly 100 countries. People from more than half of the world’s countries traveled to the cold and dark Helsinki, with the ambition of taking their business to the next level.

New Academy of Finland Project for Professor Hannu Toivonen: Digital language typology (DLT)

The project Digital Language Typology (DLT) is part of the Finnish Academy Digital Humanities programme, which includes "novel methods and techniques in which digital technologies and state-of-the-art computational science methods are used for collecting, managing, and analysing data in humanities and social sciences research." Pitch Training for ICT Research

The Helsinki Doctoral Education Network in Information and Communications Technology (HICT) is a collaborative doctoral education network coordinated by HIIT, and hosted jointly by Aalto University and the University of Helsinki. The network serves as a collaboration platform for doctoral education combining all the relevant subfields of computer science and information technology at Aalto University and the University of Helsinki.

Aalto researchers have developed a method for quantifying controversies in social media. The method, developed by doctoral student Kiran Garimella and his colleagues, aims to help users understand their news diet and enrich their online news consumption.
